Savience is providing solutions that directly support The Ministry of Health and Long-Term 2017 Budget, and its associated 10-point action plan for Digital Health in Ontario and continues to push the boundaries of technology and change the face of healthcare.

Savience is providing hospitals with solutions to support these actions and do its part to strengthen the quality, effectiveness and accountability of the care delivered. Our work with Health Systems will stimulate innovation and growth for the economy through investments in digital health, reducing wait times, fast tracking access to care, and improving the patient experience.

In addition, increasing direct access by patients to health information and services was one of the most common themes heard by the ministry in stakeholder consultations on Digital Health. Such access is a priority for Savience

The new Provincial Cabinet has appointed Dr Rueben Devlin the long-time CEO of Humber River Hospital, to chair a new body called the Premier’s Council on Improving Healthcare and Ending Hallway Medicine. The focus will be making more health care available outside of hospitals; improving integration as patients move from hospital to home and throughout the rest of the health system; increasing innovation and making better use of technology; and improving access to patient records.

Patient Digital Access Channels (PDAC)

Savience support what are now being called the “Patient Digital Access Channels” (PDACs), an emerging Strategy in Ontario, that provides digital access through mobile, kiosks and other devices.

Currently Ontario is experiencing organic growth in patient’s use of digital technology to access health services.  Approximately one million Ontarians have access to parts of their health care services through different channels (e.g. hospital, family practice, and lab services), and their demand is growing.  This organic growth can be supplemented with the products and services provided by Savience and align with the overall ministry strategy to ensure the longevity, sustainability, and widespread adoption digital technology by patients.

Savience is aligned to Ontario’s strategy

Savience is also directly aligned to the strategy of the Office of the Chief Health Innovation Strategist (OCHIS) (who is a catalyst to help accelerate health technology commercialization efforts in Ontario). Savience is working with Innovation Brokers to foster an even greater culture of innovation across the province, including the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario (CAHO) on behalf of Ontario’s 23 research hospitals, with a focus on matching the needs and priorities of Ontario research hospitals with the innovative solutions underway in Ontario.

Savience is in the process of brokering connections with hospitals that are ready to adopt specific innovations, and working with those hospitals to develop implementation plans to enhance the efficient adoption of the innovation.

Savience is committed to solving problems similar to those defined by CAHO and is working with hospitals to support their most pressing issues such as those described here

In particular, Savience helps Ontario Hospitals with arrivals, including the use of multi-channel access to reduce queues and frustrations and design new ways of working.  Savience also supports patient flows to achieve real-time visibility of clinic activity, gain insight into capacity utilization and make better use of resources with the end result of better informed patients.  Savience helps with patient departures as well, to secure existing revenue streams, simplify clinic follow-on activity, encourage patient feedback and use data to plan services to support Health System Funding Reform (HSFR).
